We were engaged as mechanical and electrical design consultants to undertake full design of the services, with an emphasis on low energy engineering. The centre comprises a central 3 story office accommodation with central welfare facilities.
Three 6 KW wind turbines feed into the electrical distribution for the central office areas maintaining the base electrical load with any surplus generation exported back to the grid. Roof mounted solar thermal collectors supply heat for the central hot water generation and rainwater is collected into an external tank for toilet and urinal flushing. A central ventilation system was designed and installed for the offices incorporating plate heat exchanges for energy savings.
